Embracing the Unpredictable

Embracing the Unpredictable is a photography series that weaves together the shifting rhythms of ocean tides and the delicate complexity of human experience. Through a mix of newly captured and found images, I offer fragmented glimpses of vulnerability, inviting viewers to see beauty and calm within life’s emotional turbulence.

My own story begins with childhood trauma, which once left me questioning whether life should have been easier, lighter. But healing brought something deeper: the ability to accept events without judgment or blame, and the gift of greater empathy—for myself and others.

We all face moments that divide life into “before” and “after”—a loss, a diagnosis, the end of a relationship. These ruptures are universal, and yet, from them, many emerge with renewed resilience and courage. This work is for them—for all of us navigating the unpredictable.

Photographed along Puget Sound, the landscapes in Embracing the Unpredictable use long exposures to capture the tides’ quiet power. I shift fragments of these images to mirror the uneven rhythms of healing. Paired with found portraits of people at turning points, the result is a visual meditation on surrender, transformation, and the strength we find when we move with, rather than against, life’s changing currents.
